Dumbarton Evacuates

Once again, I happened to stumble upon a great news story. As I was driving back from Sociology class Wednesday evening, September 3, I stopped at a red light and watched three firetrucks, 3 cop cars and an ambulance pass me. Of course I had to turn and follow.

After catching up, I found that all of the commotion was coming from Dumbarton Middle School. Cops had already re-directed traffic and hundreds of people flooded the street. It just so happened that Dumbarton was having their back to school night when someone saw smoke inside the school. The smoke was reported to the principal, the school was quickly evacuated and the proper officials were called.

Now the fun part, all of this for a faulty light bulb. That's OK though, better safe than sorry, right? According to the Principal, Nancy Fink, approximately 750-900 people were evacuated. Some parents immediately went home while others waited for news.
