Bring on the Storm!

I have waited two long years for a new phone, thanks to Verizon and their 'fantastic' upgrade policy, but I finally got a new cell phone, and not just any phone, but the BlackBerry Storm. Just the name makes you shiver. Anyhow, I'm already addicted to this thing. It does everything from text messaging, photos, videos, web surfing and more. I can actually edit my blog from virtually anywhere. I can check e-mail world-wide (not that I'm going anywhere). And I have to mention the great music player. It's like having a boombox in my back pocket!

The touch screen on this thing is pretty cool. I checked out a bunch of phones at my local Verizon store, but the Storm is different. You can scroll with your finger but there are no "accidental clicks." On the BlackBerry, you have to actually push the screen. So far it has worked pretty well. The only downside was that my other phone died when I went to the Verizon store so they couldn't move all of my numbers to my new phone. I had to go back the next day. I also didn't get a manual or the CDs with my purchase, so I have to go back AGAIN. Oh well, that's what we have the Internet for, right? Look up a problem on Google and bam, problem solved.

Another down side to this thing is you can't text as fast as any regular, non-PDA phone. Or maybe it's just because I'm not used to it yet. One major thing I don't like is that you have to close all applications once you are done using them. You cannot simply push the big red 'end' button. Once again, oh well, what can you do?

A giant plus on this phone is the amount of memory (8GB+). You can take and store Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. It's really simple (drag and drop) and very easy to edit documents.

I heard from the Verizon techs that new Blackberry apps will be out next month. I can't wait. The whole system is supposed to be similar to the iPhone, but I've never used it so I can't really say.

If you really like technology and staying connected to the world, this phone is great. If you're looking for something cheap and easy, forget it.
